Gaza Under Hamas: A Taliban-like Regime?

"Hamas is forcing people to live within the confines of a harsh moral code and punishing those who try to exercise their few remaining rights," said in a statement by Human Rights Watch, a group who opposes Israel's current policy toward Gaza.

On Monday, June 28, masked gunmen destroyed a U.N. summer camp facility in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. A U.N. official called it "another example of the growing levels of extremism in Gaza."

The destruction marked the second attack in less than a month on a U.N. facility designed to provide summer fun for the children of Gaza.

"Now nearly 500 kids are prevented from coming to that camp because of the burning and destroying that place," the U.N. official said.

The attack is one more sign that Gaza under Hamas is becoming a Taliban-like regime.

Troops call it the Heart of Darkness, the spiritual home of the Taliban

American troops are fighting in an anti-insurgency operation located in one of the most challenging areas of Afghanistan, the Zhari district, the home of the Taliban movement. "We have heard all the names, the Heart of Darkness and so on," said Major Matt Neumeyer "But just by sheer numbers we are going to gain more space and take it from the enemy."

Relief swept the young private's face as the armoured convoy pulled off the road and moved behind the outpost's sandbags.

"Welcome what we call to the Heart of Darkness, or the Alamo," he said and spat as he made safe the turret-mounted machine gun at the end of a tense five-minute drive.

Two convoys travelling to the combat outpost in the Pashmul area of Zhari district had been attacked the previous day. The craters left in the giant sandbagged perimeter by rocket propelled grenades were clearly visibly.

FIFA World Cup Jihad: SA Terror Suspects May Have ISI Links

Two suspected members of militant organization Lashar-e-Toiba were arrested by security forces while they were trying to cross over into South Africa from Zimbabwe on a possible reconnaissance mission. The arrest of two suspected members of militant organisation Lashar-e-Toiba has sent intelligence agencies across the country, including the Anti Terrorist Squad, into a tizzy.

The two suspects identified as Imran Mohammed and Chaudhary Parvez Ahmed were apprehended by security forces while they were trying to cross over into South Africa from Zimbabwe. During preliminary inquiry, the duo claimed they were Pakistani nationals.

Initial investigations indicated that they were travelling with fake passports. The fact that they were Pakistani nationals spread terror among Indian intelligence agencies. More so, because LeT is considered one of the main militant organisations operating under the Al Qaeda umbrella.

Al Qaeda's American Spokesman Blasts Obama in New Video

Al Qaeda's American spokesman Adam Gadahn released a video ridiculing President Obama and threatening more violence against the U.S. He offered a truce, “requiring the U.S. to pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq, end its support of Israel, and stop financial support of those Muslim governments that al Qaeda deems insufficiently Islamic. He also accuses the U.S. of creating ‘Muslim-only concentration camps’ around the world.”

In a new video released over the weekend, al Qaeda's American spokesman Adam Gadahn ridicules President Obama but offers him a peace deal if the U.S. leaves Iraq and Afghanistan and ends aid to Israel and those Muslim countries al Qaeda considers un-Islamic.

"You're no longer the popular man you once were, a year ago or so," says Gadahn in the recording. He says this is because Obama has become "nothing more than another treacherous, bloodthirsty and narrow-minded American war President."

Gadahn's offer is similar to a 2007 message to President George W. Bush. In the years prior to the September 11 attacks, al Qaeda peace deals often presaged an attack, a religious requirement for Islamic extremists that they give one last truce offer before attacking their enemy. Since then, al Qaeda's statements have largely amounted to propaganda.

Sharia Law in Britain: A Threat to One Law for All and Equal Rights

According to Maryam Namazie, spokesperson of the One Law for All Campaign and an author of their most recent report, “The existence of a parallel legal system that is denying a large section of the British population their fundamental human rights is scandalous. Our findings show that it is essential to abolish all religious courts in the UK. Their very existence and legitimisation puts pressure on vulnerable women not to assert their civil rights in a British court. As long as Sharia Councils and Tribunals are allowed to continue to make rulings on issues of family law, women will be pressured into accepting decisions which are prejudicial to them and their children.”

A new report by One Law for All has found Sharia Councils and Muslim Arbitration Tribunals to be in violation of UK law, public policy and human rights.

The report is being launched to coincide with a 20 June 2010 rally on the issue of Sharia law.

Based on an 8 March 2010 Seminar on Sharia Law, research, interviews, and One Law for All case files, the report has identified a number of problem areas:
